Most of the Padres All-Stars

In honor of the All-Star game, today's post is more pictures of cards and less words.  These are most of the Padres All-Stars.  At one point, I know that I had all 43 of the Padres All-Stars in my collection (except for Rondell White, at least as a Padre), but as I've trimmed down, some of those Padre immortals have ended up in trade packages or passed out to my 1st graders.  Not to say that I won't pick up some more down the road, but these are a few that I have as of this very moment.

Who do you guys root for in the All-Star game?  I guess I always want the NL team to win, 1) because that's the league the Padres are in, and 2) the incredibly small chance that it helps with home field advantage (I guess it's a pretty remote possibility at this point).  Still, it's tough because, playing the majority of their games against teams in the NL, I'm really not a fan of most of the guys on the NL team.  Rooting for a team with that many Dodgers doesn't come naturally to me.

Hopefully Justin Upton (who will probably not even be a Padre in a couple of weeks) will get a chance to take the field, the last time a Padre player actually made it into the game was when Heath Bell slid into the pitcher's mound from the bullpen in 2011.

  1. I'm with you in that we are forced to want the NL to win because of home field advantage. I hate that this game is more than an exhibition. The other thing I hope for is that the Pirate representatives have productive appearances.

  2. That Heath Bell card is a treat! I'm assuming that's a photo variation because I've never seen that before

    1. Yep, photo variation. Got it in a trade package a while back. Don't have many Heath cards, but that's my fave.

  3. I root for the NL always. The only team's players I have a difficult time with are the Giants, but I figure I win either way: if they do well, they help my team, if they don't, I get to laugh at them.

    1. Which is exactly how it went yesterday. Oh no wait, those were Dodgers...

    2. Which is exactly how it went yesterday. Oh no wait, those were Dodgers...

  4. Mark Loretta was an All-Star? You learn something new every day. (And how do I not have that Trevor Hoffman card?)

    Go NL!
