In his first at-bat as a Padre, Carlos Quentin, after being on the DL all season with knee issues, rips a double to left to score Chris Denorfia. Not only does it give the Padres a 1-0 lead, but it stops the Padres scoreless inning streak at 26 innings.
Love playing the Cubs (not just because they're the only NL team with a worse record than the Friars, but) because I get to watch the games on WGN!
Good to have you back Carlos! Go Pads!
I left at the end of the Padres' half of the 1st inning to go to a barbeque. Coming back sweaty (94 degrees outside), full, and smelling like smoke, found the Pad squad down 11-7 in the 8th, which ended up being the final score. That 1st inning double was Carlos' only hit. The Padres were able to explode with four homers (including two by Chase Headley), which would've been great, if they also hadn't given up four homers. Hoping for better results tomorrow.
